Single Roller is a main game first played from the original version of Takeshi's Castle.
In this game, a big cylinder is laid on a metal track, above the water. The contestant has to stand on top and move it along the rails to the end.
The track ramps slightly downhill, it then flattens off towards the middle before turning into a steeper slope near the end, so the contestant needs excellent balance to stay on top as the cylinder rolls down.
If the contestant manages to stay on the cylinder to the end of the track, they can leap off onto the finishing platform and have won the game; but if they fall off at any time they lose.
Trivia[]
- In TBS's sport reality show SASUKE, the Single Roller game served as an inspiration for a obstacle in SASUKE 10, called Balance Tank. The major difference of the Balance Tank compared to the Single Roller was that it featured a smaller log, a shorter track and a rope climb (the latter added in SASUKE 24 when the obstacle was returned).
- Later in SASUKE's women spin-off KUNOICHI, the Single Roller game served as an inspiration for a obstacle, Enchu Nori. Just like Balance Tank, the Enchu Nori featured a smaller cylinder and a shorter track.
